The Allotment
Formerly a field left fallow, and used primarily for dog walking, it is now an area with 27 plots of varying sizes.
This must be one of the most picturesque sites for an allotment site, set within the boundaries of the South Downs National Park.
From 16th December 2016 Halewick Lane allotment tenants commenced a 12 month trial of self-management, the trial was successful and now the allotment site is fully managed through their association, Halewick Allotment Horticultural Association (HAHA) on a self-managed basis. From this date all enquiries about the waiting list will be dealt with by HAHA.
HAHA are responsible for the grounds maintenance of the Halewick Lane allotments including the management of the rents paid, the site security, management of the waiting list, letting of plots and dealing with prospective tenants plus issuing of non-cultivation letters and any subsequent tenancy terminations for breach of the allotment rules and regulations.
Adur District Council remains landowner, however, they will assist in dealing with any disputes that cannot be resolved through negotiation with HAHA according to the Service Level Agreement HAHA and ADC entered into.
